It's probably not the 64-bit that's messing it up but lack of the .Net framework. Click here to get the latest version. .Net 2.0 has been on the XP Windows Update for years -- does that computer have all the latest updates?

more players? Hello all, I got a message about the reicarnation of the not turnbased chess from Devilant at a server for regular chess. That was only a coincidence, I searched for the old kfc several times during a year or more.
So far I coulndt install the game cause my pc dont want to run tempest.exe
(I have reported)
But when I was searching for this type of game I ofcourse used the tag-words kfc and other words from the "old times" without any hits on a page telling anything about Tempest.
Regards Sibelius from the old times (but will perhaps use another nick here)

Yeah.. that's a pretty sizable problem standing in the way of growing the community... A lot of people just find this site by sheer coincidence. There's probably a lot more old kfc'ers out there who are sad that shizmoo is gone but unable to find Tempest due to this sort of thing. Perhaps Senty needs to include more "kfc" keywords on tempestchess.com to make it easier to search for.

Yes I am also sure there are many ppl sad for the lack of this type of chess,
perhaps its enough that we mention the words kfc and shizmoo sometimes in this forum, if they made the forum open to the search-engines..
I still dont know why tempest.exe not runs on my pc, will try it on another, one day..

I am not able to update to the latest version of Tempest.
It tells me "Tempest has updated successfully but was unable to write the new version list"
What should i do?

You can try running it as administrator.

If restarting your computer doesn't fix it, find the following folder:
Windows XP: C:/Documents and Settings/<username>/Application Data/Local Settings/Tempest
Vista or Windows 7: C:/Users/<username>/AppData/Local/Tempest
Note: You will need to show hidden files and folders to navigate there.
Inside that folder, delete version.xml and try logging in again.
